Doris Morgan was appointed to fill the District 8 board seat, representing Pueblo West in April 2015. She has been a San Isabel Electric Association member since May 1997. Doris is a native Coloradoan, raised on a small farm outside of Las Animas.
Doris recently retired from 21 years of service for Colorado members of Congress. She served as a Regional Director and District Representative for these members. In this role, she helped constituents work through the “red tape” of federal agencies to resolve their problems. During this time she was an advocated for many communities in southeast Colorado and the San Luis Valley on community issues and projects needing assistance and funding.
Doris attended Western State College and Otero Jr. College where she studied political science and physical education. She has completed numerous educational classes ranging from United States Senate Education Classes, House of Representatives Education Classes, Grant Writing and Project Management.
Pervious to living in Pueblo West she lived in the La Junta, CO from 1975-1990, and her community involvements were many, a board member of the La Junta Chamber of Commerce, Urban Renewal Board of Directors and the Colorado Boys Ranch Board. During this time she participated in the “50 For Colorado”, Colorado’s foremost economic training program for business leaders.
While living in Pueblo West she attended the Pueblo Leadership class, has been a member of the Pueblo West Rotary Club, and served on the El Pueblo Boys and Girls Ranch operating board, State Fair Ladies, and has been a 14 year member of Action 22.
Her strong work ethic is rooted in the skills she learned from her farm life and experience as a 4-H participant. She also believes in the value of building strong relationships with community members and their need for reliable electric service for quality of life.
